Fostering is a dog is a big commitment. Dogs coming out of shelters need house breaking, crate training, leash training, and they need to be properly socialized and learn house manners in order to get them ready to go live in a new forever home. Dogs can be with us for quite awhile until we find the match for them so it is often not a short term project. Dogs can stay with us for up to 6 months to a year. The minimum a dog stays with us is a mandatory 3 weeks before will place them. In order to be a Foster home the following are necessary
~ membership to the Midflorida ACD Fanciers club, all foster homes must be club members so that they are covered by club insurance
~ a good knowledge of the breed with experience of owning either a cattle dog or another herding breed in the past
~ a home check done by a club member
~ ability to pay for dog food and other extras (collar, leashes etc) Please don't hesitate to contact us at kalinka@bellsouth.net if you are interested. |
